Watchlist

JOB $5.95
ARIS 5.19
GPRO 8.16
Motley Fool writer thinks a GPRO & Garmin (GRMN 50.97) marriage could make sense. Incidentally, Garmin has no debt, 800 million in cash, a 2.9 current ratio, a dividend of .51 for a 4% yield and trading at a 19 PE.

ARIS may not get to the mid-4s. It seems to be consolidating nicely in the low 5s, perhaps poised for a push upwards.

My Gold play is sucking wind. Back to breakeven after a +25% gain slipped away from me. I'll hold on for now.

Watchlist

Would love to get some JOB ($6.17) at around $5.20, GPRO ($8.71) a couple of dollars lower than here and add more ARIS ($5.13) in the mid-4s. Hanging on to my gold play for the foreseeable future. Long range? SNAP at 10 would be nice.

A Look Back At The Election Rally

Now, the question is, was it an HRC rally prior to election day or a "Trump is actually gonna' win this thing" rally. If you recall, as election results poured in, and a Trump win looked inevitable, the futures tanked, indicating a -600 opening on the DOW on Nov. 9th. Well, the entire deficit was erased by the opening and the DOW moved up 400 points by the end of the week.
So the question begs to be answered. Was the slide during the week of Oct 24th the actual HRC expectations of a win?

GoPro (GPRO 7.57)

"Beyond Hero cameras and drones, I think there's an even bigger market GoPro could grow into in 2017: virtual reality."
"Another related advance I think GoPro needs to make in 2017 is going live."
"Facebook and Twitter's Periscope are perfect places to live-stream an adventure, whether it's skydiving, zip-lining, driving around a racetrack, or even streaming a kid's soccer game"

That last sentence is where SNAP (21.09) will emerge.

Still not looking to buy either GPRO nor SNAP yet.

GoPro (GPRO 8.02)

"They’re going to keep on fighting the battle of improving the software," says Brad Erickson, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities. "I don’t fault GoPro. I think the amount of people in this world willing to sit and edit videos from a purpose-built camera is very low. We all have smartphones that have decently good editing apps." This sums it up. Ease to edit, ease to share. Enter Snap's (SNAP 21.92) position in the camera market. At the right price, maybe $10, SNAP could be interesting.

Shorting the Toronto Housing Market

This is a bet many hedge funds have been making for years with terrible results but when will it come to an end? "They" say that Toronto has too much demand and not enough supply but to pay millions for these. C'MON!

GoPro Inc (GPRO 8.25)

Amazing how things go when you take your eyes off the road. I don't know what's going on with GoPro but I do know that they had an opportunity to absolutely own the action camera vis a vis the voyeuristic lifestyle videography space. Like Red Bull isn't just an energy drink or YETI isn't just a cooler, GoPro isn't just a camera, it's a glimpse into people's lives. A lifestyle brand. They were heading down the track to enable their fans to make it easy to share and let us all in but I'm afraid they may be losing sight.

I wanted to wait until it got to around $5 before I dipped a toe but it may not get there after all and they'll likely be acquired before the stock recovers considerably. This price action today is odd to say the least.

and then it got more weird:
